
The Essex ladle is a heavy-duty ladle of rugged construction and is designed for continuous and trouble free service over long periods.
The shell is a fully welded construction, with reinforcing straps at the top and bottom, as well as the centreband.
Numerous safety features include safetycatches on both the sidearm and the gearbox, and the lifting hook feet are wrapped under the top channels.
Ladles in excess of 1750Kg capacity are fitted with understraps, which are also fully welded.
The trunnions rotate in flexible roller bearings, which are located in replaceable cast iron housings.
The ladle is tested to 150% of the gross calculated mass prior to dispatch.
The ladle is fitted with a totally enclosed Oilbath Gearbox with machine cut gears, which is shaft mounted to ensure that the gear centres remain constant.
