Temperature Blending (Autoblend)
FMS offer mixer control systems both for our own range of continuous sand mixers as well as retrofit units for our competitors sand mixers
In addition to our standard ICS ‘Intelligent Control System’ FMS offer the more advanced IBS ‘Intelligent Blending System’, this system has all the features of the standard ICS control system but with the upgraded PLC and PLC programme incorporating the intelligent maths to fully automatically adjust the addition of slow or fast Catalyst/Hardener subject to the sand conditions i.e. sand temperature
Sand temperature probes are installed in to the mixer sand gate to feed data back to the PLC for the automatic adjustment of the chemical addition rates
The system can be used in manual just like a standard ICS control system as well as automatic to allow the addition rates to be automatically adjusted to maintain accurate strip times
Automatic Operation
In automatic operation the calculation of cure times is automatically calculated by the PLC subject to the sand conditions
Manual Operation
In manual operation the operator can select via a 5 position switch if the mould should be allowed to cure very slow, slow, normal, fast or very fast (timings subject to chemical supplier and conditions)
General specification
The unit consists of a steel enclosure mounted on our pump enclosure, the lower enclosure normally contains 3 positive displacement pumps, this can be increased if other pumps are required, such as water addition or extra catalyst/hardener pumps are required.
The pumps used are a very reliable and accurate and are coupled with drive motors controlled by the AC inverters
- Tuthill geared Resin/Binder pumps with Viton seals
- Tuthill magnetically driven Catalyst / Hardener pumps with Hastalloy/PTFE seals (subject to chemical process)
The standard FMS mixer pumps are controlled by the Mitsubishi D700 range of inverters coupled to the PLC system for advanced control.
The upper enclosure contains all electrical components, which are controlled from the Mitsubishi FX3 PLC, this is linked to a 6 inch full colour GOT1000 type HMI Screen, this touch operated interface displays all the required adjustable components within the PLC program such as sand Gates, mixer operation and chemical controls.
The HMI is supplied with multiple languages as standard and an operator panel connected at the front of the mixer contains the controls for the mixer
